Both Nissan and Tesla offer an affordable and spacious electric vehicle (EV) in their LEAF and Model 3 offerings. However, there are some big differences between the two that highlight the simple fact that the Nissan LEAF, while it does not have the range or acceleration of the Model 3, offers exceptional value for the price. Affordability
The 2022 Nissan Leaf is offered in four trim levels in Orléans and across Canada: SV, S Plus, SV Plus, and SL Plus. Starting at $37,498, even the entry-level Leaf offers a ton of standard features, but the best value for drivers lies in the S Plus model. At $40,098, it upgrades the Leaf to a 62 kWh battery and 160 kW AC synchronous electric motor, extending the driving range.
The Tesla Model 3 is significantly more expensive. The Standard Range rear-wheel drive Model 3 starts at $43,990 while the Long Range costs $49,990 and the Performance costs $57,990.
Design
No matter what angle you see, the 2022 Nissan Leaf is a striking vehicle that is ready to tackle the road ahead. This futuristic hatchback offers sleek lines, Nissan's unique V-motion grille, and a distinctive floating roof design.
While the LEAF is instantly recognisable, the same cannot be said for the Tesla Model 3. It looks like every other mid-size sedan out on the road.
Interior
The interior of the 2022 Nissan Leaf is well-assembled and clean. The touchscreen infotainment system is integrated into the dashboard, and the gauge cluster features an analog speedometer next to a configurable 7.0-inch digital readout.
The Tesla Model 3's interior is spartan with basically nothing inside except for a portrait-oriented tablet that controls all the vehicle's functions. Its placement also requires drivers to look away from the road more often than is safe.

Nissan is a popular manufacturer with both small and large cities offering dealerships and service centres with certified mechanics on staff.
Tesla's abysmal reliability rating is compounded by the fact that dealers and service centres are far and few between. When maintenance is needed, a long trip to a big city is probably necessary to find someone willing and able to work on the Model 3.
